ORGANISATION
The
Department of Sainik Welfare is formed to look after the
welfare of all the personnel of Armed Forces from the State
both Serving and retired. The Administrative Control of
the Department of Sainik Welfare is with General Administration
(Sainik Welfare) Department which functions under the portfolio
of Hon. Chief Minister The Director of Sainik Welfare
is the Head of the Department. Zila Sainik Welfare Officers
are the District Officers controlling District Offices (Zila
Sainik Welfare Offices) of the Department. The Director
is also the Secretary of State Managing Committee of Amalgamated
Fund, the Rajya Sainik Board and the Flag Day Fund Committee.
At
the national level, Director General Resettlement
and Kendriya Sainik Board under the Ministry of
Defence have overall responsibility to plan and organize
activities of resettlement and welfare of ex-servicemen.
The Directorate of Resettlement, Southern Zone, Pune
maintains liaison with all southern States including
Kerala.

For the conduct of business at Headquarters, Director of
Sainik Welfare is assisted by Administrative
Officer, Dy.Director, Assistant Director, Employment Officer,
Section Officer and Supporting Staff.
Role
of the Department
All
the activities of the Department of Sainik Welfare are organised
to extend various forms of assistances to needy ex-servicemen
and their dependents.
The
Department maintains close liaison with all Government Offices,
private and public enterprises, Banks and all prospective
employers who are in a position to help ex-servicemen in
their settlement. The departments regularly organises
various type of orientation training and welfare measures
to help ‘the section of society’ that faces many hardships
due to their long period of absence from their native State
in the services of the Nation.
The
Director of Sainik Welfare Co-ordinates the work of all
the 14 Zila Sainik Welfare Offices in the State according
to the policy of the State Government and guidelines issued
by the Kendriya Sainik Board and Director General, Re-Settlement,
Ministry of Defence, New Delhi.
